Zoo Day
2025
We would love to have you volunteer with us for a CAMP (Children with Adapted Mobility Play) event at Lincoln Park Zoo! We will be attending Fall Fest 2025, which features fun activities throughout the zoo in addition to additional animal learning experiences. The kids can go through the accessible harvest maze and pumpkin patch and make s'mores, have apple cider and caramel apples. There will be pumpkin carving and special rides and attractions. We have had so much fun at this event in the past and we hope that you can help us make this another memorable event for our kids.
We are looking for volunteers who can be present from 9:45am to 3:30 and are able to spend the day with one of our amazing campers.
2025
Monday For adaptive horseback riding, grooming and feeding mini horses, learning lasso skills, horseshoe painting, learning about plants and planting a flower pot to take home, fishing and more. Tuesday Beach day at Montrose Beach for adapted kayaking, Mobi chairs, flying kites, sandcastle building contest and swimming. Wednesday For adaptive rock wall climbing, putt putt golf, visiting the bean and other Millennium Park sights, and sports wheelchairs on the ribbon. *Climbing Volunteers Needed to assist with belaying or tandem climbing alongside a Camper. Thursday For adapted sailing with Judd Goldman Sailing Center, and adaptive cycling on the lake with Dare2tri. Friday For end of camp picnic, fishing, animal show, dance party and family picnic.
Indoor Climbing Gym & Games
We will be taking our kids to Movement Climbing Gym in Lincoln Park and we need volunteers, including climbing volunteers, and a medical staff of MD's, RN's, PT's and OT's! Volunteers will need to be able to commit to the full day (9:30am to around 3:30pm) and may be assigned to a 1:1 camper for the day. There will be adapted climbing and fun games for the campers to play.
Climbing volunteers may belay or tandem climb with our campers. Climbers do not need to be belay certified, however, belayers must be top rope belay certified at Movement Climbing Gym prior to April 13th. If you are not top rope belay certified, please obtain your belay tag prior to the event.
